Make flashcards from a PDF: lecture slides, study guides and textbook pages
Try it on your notes, free ↓Most course material arrives as a PDF: slide decks, study guides, practice-exam outlines, textbook chapters. You can turn any of them into flashcards without copying text by hand.
How to do it
- Open SnapDeck and choose Photo or PDF.
- Upload the PDF (up to 10 MB; up to 5 files at once). For a long textbook, export just the pages for one section.
- Press Make flashcards + quiz. SnapDeck reads the pages, pulls out definitions, numbers, steps and comparisons, and writes Q&A cards plus a 10-question quiz.
- Review and edit the cards, then study.
Tips by type of PDF
Lecture slides
Slides are terse, which makes them great flashcard material. If a slide is mostly a diagram, add a card for it yourself (“Label the parts of…”).
Study guides and exam outlines
For certification and licensing exams (CompTIA, NCLEX, real estate, CPA sections), upload the official outline section by section. Each objective becomes a few cards, and the quiz checks you can apply it.
Textbook chapters
Split long chapters into 5–10 page chunks: decks stay focused, and you can see which part you’re weak on.
Scanned PDFs
Scans work if the text is sharp. If a scan is blurry, take a photo of the page instead.
Questions
Is there a size limit for PDFs?
Up to 10 MB per file and 5 files at a time. Upload the pages for one topic rather than a whole book.
Are my PDFs stored?
No. The file is read to create your cards and is not kept; only the cards are saved to your deck.
